Cessna Citation XLS and XLS+
The Citation XLS is a twin turbofan-powered, mid-size, business jet built by Cessna Aircraft Company. The XLS is actually an updated version of the Citation Excel and is one of the fastest jets in the Citation family. The Excel mid-size jet introduced in 1998 was itself a totally new design and was developed to supplement the smaller Citation I and II light jets. It was hugely popular and even set production records for the industry. In 2003, Cessna announced an upgraded version as its official successor and designated the improved aircraft the Citation XLS.
The Citation XLS features a new cockpit design with updated avionics and more powerful engines with FADEC controls. In 2008, Cessna rolled out the XLS+ with state of the art avionics and restyled exterior and interior. Primarily due to the improved engine design, the XLS and XLS+ achieve faster speeds and greater range than their predecessor the Excel. Both models outperform most other jets in the class. The XLS can attain its flight level of 43,000 feet in less than half an hour while the Excel may take over an hour. Notably, the jet can take off on runways as short as 3,500 feet, a performance level unmatched by any other midsized jet.
The cabin of the XLS has a dropped aisle which gives an astounding 68 inches of height so most people can stand and move around with ease. The interior re-design also includes extra-wide seats, a side facing couch, and an aft private lavatory large enough to serve as a dressing room.
With the XLS and XLS+, Cessna has taken one of the worlds most popular business jets to an entirely new level of performance and comfort.
