The Gulfstream G650 is an ultra long range, large cabin jet designed and built by Gulfstream Aviation. Due to its extraordinarily spacious cabin area and near speed of sound capabilities, it should command its own category as an ultra-large-cabin, ultra-high speed business jet. The G650 is Gulfstream’s first completely clean-sheet design since the Gulfstream II in 1967 and it is considered by many to be the gold standard in business aviation. In fact, the jet is in such high demand that as of Spring 2013, orders were backed up through 2017.
The G650 program was initiated in 2005 and its first delivery was late 2012. It is undoubtedly the most technologically advanced business aircraft flying today. The aircraft controls are completely fly-by-wire. Although many airliners today are fly-by-wire, the G650 and Falcon 7X are the only current business jets so equipped. The G650 features many other advanced safety features and flight management systems including its Enhanced Vision System (EVS) II, Head-Up Display II, the Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display and of course Gulfstream’s latest Planeview II cockpit. Simply put, it is chock-full of the most sophisticated, yet intuitive technology making it a joy to operate and fly.
Gulfstream’s award-winning engineers took enormous pride in the design of the cabin environment. Their approach was to design from the inside, out. Instead of the common ‘circular’ cross-section, they introduced an oval section which provides an unprecedented width of eight and a half feet and a height of nearly six and a half feet. Sixteen of Gulfstream’s signature large, oval windows let in abundant natural light and add to the spacious, relaxed feel of the environment. The cabin easily provides comfortable accommodations for up to 18 people and a dozen standard configurations are available including of course the large rear stateroom option favored by many Gulfstream passengers. Beyond the standard configurations, the cabin is fully customizable so any number of interior arrangements may be afforded. As you might expect in this latest offering from Gulfstream, the cabin is loaded with all technology and connectivity you’d expect to find in your executive office suite or home theatre so your trips will be as relaxing or as productive as you need them to be.
